Meet the people behind ARGOS Lab: the core team, visiting researchers, and the alumni who shaped the lab before them.
Team
Core members of ARGOS Lab.
Marco Sagliano
Principal Investigator
Marco Sagliano received his Master's Degrees at the University of Naples Federico II in Italy, in 2008. He worked in Spain, in Germany, and in Japan in the period from 2008 to 2025. In 2025 he became Full Professor at the Alma Mater Studiorum - University of Bologna, and is the PI of the ERC-awarded project STARGATE. He is an AE for the AIAA JGCD, and the IEEE TAES Journals. His interests focus on convex and non-convex trajectory optimization, launch, entry, descent, and landing systems and computational guidance.
Davide Costigliola
Post-Doctoral Researcher
Davide Costigliola obtained a Ph.D. in aerospace engineering at Polytechnic University of Turin, focusing on trajectory optimization for rendezvous and close proximity operations in space. After one year and a half working as a space software engineer for a startup in the context of space situational awareness and collision avoidance procedures, he's now conducting research for stochastic trajectory optimization, as well as for the creation of an advanced facility to test real-time guidance and control algorithms for proximity operations and planetary landing scenarios.
Riccardo Minnozzi
Post-Graduate Researcher
Riccardo Minnozzi holds a M.Sc. in Aerospace Engineering from Delft University of Technology. His thesis focused on developing a Differential Dynamic Programming algorithm for Large Scale Optimal Control Problems applied to Solar-Sailing. His research focuses on Pseudospectral and Unscented Methods for Stochastic Optimal Control applied to Trajectory Optimization under Uncertainty.
Filippo Maria Cataldo
Post-Graduate Researcher
Filippo Maria Cataldo graduated in Space Engineering from Polytechnic University of Milan. He developed his Master's thesis at the German Aerospace Center (DLR) in Bremen, investigating Koopman Operator applications to Rocket Landing Guidance. His research focuses on First-Order Methods and Consensus Optimization for efficiently solving Optimal Control Problems in guidance applications.
Lorenzo Folino
Post-Graduate Researcher
Lorenzo Folino holds an M.Sc. in Space Engineering from Polytechnic University of Milan. He completed his master's thesis at NASA's Jet Propulsion Laboratory (JPL), where he contributed to the Venus Aerobot mission. His research focuses on accelerating numerical optimization for optimal control through parallel computing techniques and advanced theoretical methods.
Natalia Rossi
Financial Project Manager
Philosopher. Since 2019, Project Manager at the Department of Industrial Engineering, University of Bologna. Since February 2026, Head of the Departmental Projects and Agreements Office. She is supporting the financial planning as well as assisting in the operative execution of the ERC-funded STARGATE project.
Corentin Kevin Ferri
Master Student
Corentin Kevin Ferri is a French engineering intern in his final year of the engineering program at ELISA Aerospace, specializing in missile and space systems engineering. His internship focuses on the application of machine learning techniques to trajectory optimization.
Mathis Varachè
Master Student
Currently studying aerospace engineering at ELISA Aerospace Bordeaux, Mathis Varachè is spending six months in Forlì as an intern within the ARGOS Lab. He is driven by complex engineering challenges and thrilled to contribute to the team's shared goals.

Skye Mceowen
Visiting Researcher
Skye Mceowen holds a Ph.D. in Aeronautics and Astronautics Department at the University of Washington. Her thesis focused on optimization-based trajectory planning for aerospace vehicles, particularly relying on successive convexification, with applications to autonomous aerial systems and hypersonic entry guidance. In the final year of her PhD she spent a visiting period at the ARGOS Lab. She is currently a Senior GNC Engineer at SpaceX.
